Today’s guest is a dear friend of mine by the name of David Wood. David is the founder of “Empower Network” which is the largest for profit blogging system online. According to BusinessFromHome.org David generates an estimated 4.8 million a year which equates to about $400,000 a month ranking him the #9 highest paid network marketer in the entire world.
David Wood went from homeless living in a van to building his company to over 250,000 affiliates and paying out more than $100,000,000 in commissions to the field.
If I was to describe Dave Wood in 2 words, that would be “Transformation Artist” because not only has he transformed my life but also the lives of millions of entrepreneurs around the world.
How did you go from homeless living in a van to becoming one of the most successful and inspiring entrepreneurs on the planet?
After many years of trying to make money from home and nothing ever working for him, Dave got to a point in 2009 when he was literally homeless. Homeless by choice, that is because he wanted to be originally, but then got so broke he became homeless not by choice.
Then he reached a change point when he had no money, no food and no job which ended up making him even more powerful. David Wood then decided that, “It’s my time”.
Out of all the places in the world, why do you choose to live in Costa Rica?
Dave was living in Alaska and wanted to move to a tropical country not in the USA. Dave visitied Costa Rica and fell in love with the country and its people. He lives on top of a mountain with a gorgeous view.
What’s the biggest mis-conception people have about network marketers?
Most people look down upon it as a tiny itty bitty business but the fact is network marketing produces over 100 billion per year.
Will you teach your son Gabriel about being an entrepreneur at a young age or just let him be a normal kid?
Both, it depends, Dave won’t push anything upon anyone.
What does kung fu mean to you and how has it helped you become a better entrepreneur?
David Wood does Wing Chun Kung Fu and started in Japanese martial arts at age 12, then went on to become a black belt at age 18. If you really wanna get good at something… do 1 thing 10,000 times.
If you wanna master something you must do one thing at a time before you can expect to master it. This helped Dave with the concept of being principal based versus technique based. He looks for why it works versus just how it works. Kung Fu taught him how to think differently.
Dave, what is your vision of the future looking like in your life and with your business?
100 millionaires a year, a billion and a half a year in commissions paid out. The next year to get the company to 10 million a month in sales.
Give it all your energy and keep speaking your vision if u wanna create it.
“Don’t be a wussy , just do it” – Dave Wood
More important than what book to read is to blot out 30 minutes and no matter what read for 30 minutes a day. Reading a book a week is a habit of a successful CEO.
What’s the best way for our listeners to connect with you Dave?
