Ben, what’s an Interestingly weird fact about yourself that contributes to your success?
Everything about me is kinda weird.
I just don’t think like other people.
People who read my first book said, “Did you really write this?”….
I’m like yeah I was disturbed when I was writing this.
If you disturb people you get their attention.
I’m good at disturbing people.
How did your journey as an entrepreneur all begin?
When I graduated college in the late 90’s I knew I didn’t wanna work for someone forever.
I hate authority!
The only thing I thought to do was network marketing/mlm so I started with that.
I was going around handing out recruiting tapes to local businesses, it was pretty bad.
I was so broke and in debt from sucking at it that I was living in this 2 room office.
Then I dove into writing sales letters and copy.
Now I sell my own stuff, a print newsletter, book, other courses, and joint venture in other markets.
Big Reason Why:
I just want power, I want power over my own life.
Biggest Temporary Defeat:
In 2001 I was working on retainer doing all copyrighting for this company in the biz pop niche but realized i hated authority so I made this business plan in the end of 2010.
Got burnt out writing 15-20 articles a day in the prostate niche.
Everything was going perfect then same week Google slapped the directories and sites.
Weirdest Breakthrough Experience:
During those 45 days of writing I learned how to write really fast which prompted me to think about starting a print newsletter just about email marketing.
Vision of Ben Settle for the future:
Move from the town I’m in, to a new one.
Make enough cash flow from the gold business to pay for my new home.
Best Entrepreneur Advice:
Whatever it is you do everyday that brings in money just do it everyday.
Do this 1 thing everyday and never break the chain.
Favorite Success Quote:
“We can’t be a team of common men, common men get nowhere.”
Top Recommended Book:
Johnny Carson – by Henry Bushkin
If you only had $1k and a laptop computer how would you jumpstart your business?
Goto the pet store and bye some poop bags and go door to door and say, “Hey I will be happy to clean up your dog poop back there.
I would charge $20 per yard on average and do that for as long as I had to and then farm it out to neighborhood kids and scale it up.
